Jewelry Care Recommendations

Vulgar Dreamer jewelry is made with great care and is exceptional in quality. Whether worn daily or occasionally – precious pieces require special attention to preserve their beauty over the years. We suggest reading the following care instructions and recommendations.

Precautions for Use

Bring it to life every day

The more you wear your Vulgar Dreamer jewelry, the less maintenance is required. This may seem paradoxical, however, regular use slows the natural tarnishing process inherit of copper, copper alloy, silver, and gold metals. Your jewelry will gain a unique patina over time – and will become the signature of your shared history.

Avoid unpleasant encounters

Although highly resistant, precious metals and natural stones are sensitive to their environment.
We recommend removing your jewelry prior to exercising, washing your hands, swimming and any other physical activities.
Beware of impacts, as they will cause marks and scratches of varying depth. Similarly, several pieces of jewelry worn or stored in contact with each other may scratch or catch one another.
Finally, to slow down the natural oxidation effect, avoid exposing your jewelry to moisture, intense heat, and extreme temperatures.

Protect it from harmful products

Cosmetic products can alter certain organic materials such as pearls or porous stones. We recommend waiting about ten minutes from the application of cosmetics and perfumes before proceeding to put your jewelry on.
To preserve the appearance of your jewelry, protect it from corrosive and chemical products, such as salt, water or bleach.
If it does come into contact with one of these products, carefully rinse your jewelry with clear water and dry it with a soft cloth.

Give it the right conditions to make it last

While not being worn, jewelry should be stored in its original box or in an individual pouch for protection from humidity and other intense temperatures.
The exception to this rule is jewelry with pearls – pearls are made of an organic material and require a level of moisture to conserve their full beauty. Jewelry with pearls should be stored in a humid atmosphere, i.e. a bathroom, or stored next to a glass of water filled regularly.

Restoring its original shine

Copper, sterling silver, and even gold, tend to oxidize naturally over time. There are different ways to restore these metals to their full brilliance.

For copper, silver, and gold jewelry

Care instructions depend on the condition of your jewelry:
-If your copper or silver jewelry is dusty or shows fingerprints, rub it gently with a soft cloth or a silk cloth.

-If your jewelry is tarnished or slightly oxidized, clean it with clear, warm water, and rub it gently with a soft cloth. Avoid circular movements, rub in the same direction instead. Dry it gently with a soft cloth or a jewelry cleaning cloth.

-If your jewelry is extremely tarnished, you can use a dip cleaner made especially for jewelry. Soak the jewelry in the liquid for a maximum of 10 seconds, rinse it thoroughly in warm, clear water and dry it well with a soft cloth.

-If you think a deeper clean is required, please contact us for service.

For jewelry with stones

Semi-precious stones (pearls, onyx, jade, spinels, garnets, etc.) require specific care and we recommend contacting us for a special cleaning.
